What made the SCAR rifles so popular

The top weapons in Call of Duty: Assault Rifles

In this mini-series we introduce you to the best weapons

Call of Duty offers a huge variety of weapons. That's why we show the best from each weapon class in our small series on Modern Warfare and Warzone. The literal starting shot is given by the assault rifle.

Which one do I take now? This question shoots through the mind of many CoD players. Indeed, with the incredible range of weapons in Call of Duty not easy to find the right one for you. If you have a lot of time, it is best to try them all out and then decide what is best for you. For everyone else, there is our small CoD weapon series.

First of all, you have to ask yourself what you put the gun in Modern Warfare or Warzone just needed. Do you need something for close house-to-house fights or long distances? Or would an all-rounder be better? In this article we will deal with just these: Assault rifles, the all-rounder among the Call of Duty weapons.

The top assault rifles

Assault rifles are reliable companions in almost every situation. They usually offer a sufficiently high rate of fire to be used in close combat. At the same time, however, they also have enough range and precision to be effective over medium or even long distances. Since new weapons are added with each season, we will of course always keep this guide up to date.

5th place: FN Scar 17

About whether the FN Scar 17 is a top weapon, it is safe to argue. But it is one of our favorites.

The weapon is unlocked at level 47 and is perfect for longer distances - which also makes it interesting for Warzone. The damage above average for an assault rifle is what defines this weapon. The FN Scar 17 has a relatively strong recoil, which you can get under control with attachments and offers excellent range and precision. For medium to long distances, we recommend these attachments:

  • Run: FORGE TAC 20 “LB
  • Visor: Integrated hybrid visor
  • Shaft: XRK Obelisk Pro
  • Underflow: command fore grip
  • Handle: Granulated grip tape

The attachments are all optimized for range and recoil control. The integrated hybrid visor offers 3x magnification, but can also switch to red dot - depending on the distance at which you are currently fighting.

Since the rate of fire of the FN Scar 17 is relatively low, we advise you to play this weapon a little more passively and at greater distances, which makes it a solid companion in the warzone.

Here you can find another guide for the Odes, which, similar to the Scar, combines high damage with a low rate of fire:

4th place: M4A1

One can argue about the order of places one and two, since the two weapons are very similar. We choose that M4A1 in second place.

The M4A1 is available from level 1 and was considered an absolute OP at the beginning of Call of Duty - which is why it received some nerfs. However, it is still considered one of the most popular and best weapons in the game. This is mainly due to their adaptability. Depending on which attachments are used, it can be an absolute beast at medium to long distances. Thanks to the high rate of fire, it can also take on most MPs in close combat.

Since there are still better weapons for close combat, we recommend aligning the M4A1 for range and precision:

  • Barrel: M16 Grenadier
  • Visor: G.I.-mini red dot
  • Shaft: Singuard Arms Intruder
  • Underflow: command fore grip
  • Handle: Granulated grip tape

With these attachments, the M4A1 offers extremely high precision and can therefore be played even over long distances. The high rate of fire and the low recoil make this weapon particularly strong at medium distances, which is why we recommend the red dot sight. Of all the red dot sights, the G.I. sight offers the largest field of view and is therefore our number 1. Yes, we know that many would probably rate this weapon much higher, but we personally prefer a few other weapons to the M4A1.

3rd place: RAM-7

The RAM-7 has almost the same stats as the M4A1, but distributes a little more damage, which is why we put it in front of this in our ranking.

The RAM-7 could be unlocked during Season 1 by reaching level 31 in the Season Pass. If you didn't manage to do this, you can unlock it in Season 2 via a challenge. All that has to be done is two headshots with an assault rifle in 25 different games. You already have one of the best assault rifles. Like the M4A1, the RAM-7 has a fairly high rate of fire, little recoil and good precision.

For the same reasons that we have already mentioned for the M4A1, we advise you to further expand the range and precision:

  • Run: XRK Ranger
  • Visor: G.I.-mini red dot
  • Shaft: FTAC Equilibrium
  • Underflow: command fore grip
  • Handle: Granulated grip tape

This setup gets the maximum range, precision and control out of the weapon. Here, too, we use the G.I.-mini red dot visor in order to have the largest possible field of vision. For use in Warzone, it can also be exchanged for the integrated hybrid visor in order to be able to fight better at great distances. Of course you can also exchange the visor for a larger magazine, but from time to time we find it quite pleasant to have a visor as well.

2nd place: gray 5.56

The Gray 5.56 was long the undefeated first place in Warzone, but recently had to take a Nerf. Even if many players are finally trying out other weapons, the gray remains incredibly strong.

The Gray 5.56 was available in the Season 2 Battle Pass at level 15. If you didn't have the chance back then, you can unlock it with a challenge. To do this, five kills must be made within one minute in 25 different matches. The special thing about the gray is the high rate of fire with unbelievable range and almost no recoil. Up to the Nerf you could even target snipers with it. After the Nerf, the range was slightly reduced and the recoil increased, but this can be counteracted with the right attachments.

We recommend the following setup:

  • Muzzle: silencer monolith
  • Barrel: Tempus 26.4 "Archangel
  • Underflow: command fore grip
  • Ammunition: 60-round magazine
  • Handle: XRK Void II

With this setup you maximize the range of the weapon and at the same time ensure more control. We achieve this with the Tempus 26.4 "Archangel and the monolith silencer, which at the same time does not reveal our position when firing. With the fore grip command, we reduce the recoil so that we can aim precisely at a distance. We also want the target speed and Improve mobility in order to be able to keep up even at short and medium distances. For this you have the choice between the XRK Void II grip or no shaft. The setup is completed by a 50 or 60 round magazine. This setup offers you a perfect All-rounder weapon.

1st place: CR 56 AMAX

The CR 56 AMAX is our current favorite. The high damage and the good range paired with a sufficiently high rate of fire make this weapon a beast against any form of armor.

The CR 56 AMAX will be unlocked at level 31 of the Season 4 Battle Pass. The new assault rifle from Season 4 is based on the Israeli Galil ACE and, in our opinion, most closely resembles the AK. It has similarly high damage, a faster rate of fire, and high recoil. Even in the standard version it has an astonishing range, but the recoil makes it difficult to hit precisely at great distances.
The disadvantages can be compensated for with the following essays:

  • Muzzle: silencer monolith
  • Barrel: XRK Zodiak S440
  • Shaft: XRK Gatekeeper
  • Underflow: command fore grip
  • Ammunition: 45-round magazine

With a silencer and barrel, you further increase your effective range and at the same time reduce recoil. The lower barrel and stock further aid in aiming stability and general control of the weapon when firing. The ammunition offers two interesting options. With the 45-round magazine you are well equipped for Warzone and eat your way through enemy armor with continuous fire. But there is also the option of making a semi-automatic weapon out of the CR 56 AMAX. With the M67 10-round magazine you have a very precise semi-automatic weapon, not unlike the FAL.

The CR 56 AMAX does a lot of damage, but can't keep up with the Grau 5.56 or the M4A1 in terms of rate of fire and control. At medium distances it is particularly strong, but at short distances it is outperformed by weapons with a higher rate of fire or shotguns. Still, it does what we think it does best as an assault rifle at the moment.

These were our top assault rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The next part of our weapon series will come in two days - then the Top Mps will continue. Until then we already have them best loadouts for warzone prepared.
